When you live in Syracuse your entire life, you take on its identity as part of your own. That is why Syracuse is more than just a place on a map to me, it is a place in my heart. I take great pride in being a lifelong Northsider and am proud to call my children lifelong Northsiders as well. The 3 major things that have shaped who I am today, and why I still call Syracuse my home, are the people, the schools, and the jobs I have held.  These opportunities have taught me the importance of community, accountability, respect, and excellence.

Over the past forty years, I have watched the city evolve and grow into an even more amazing and robust place to live, work, raise a family, and visit. However, it has also experienced its share of challenges such as increased violent crime, limited access to affordable and safe housing, quality of life issues, and so much more. The pandemic has complicated these issues and positive change is needed now more than ever. As the Council’s First District representative, I will work in the best interest of all people to improve and resolve these issues, remove barriers, and encourage teamwork and unity.

With a Master’s in Health Education and a Bachelor’s in Health Science I worked in medical education and research, and community health planning for over 14 years. Since 2007 I have served as a volunteer and activist and succeeded with helping neighbors resolve codes and other quality of life issues, supporting local schools, community organizations, various outreach projects, and much more. This work has taught me that we are better when we work together, and that a strong and connected community is the key to success!

I love Syracuse and value the opportunity to work for and with the people and city government to make Syracuse an even better place to live, work and raise a family. It is an honor to be the first woman to serve as the First District Councilor.
