Open Data Syracuse

On the City of Syracuse's Open Data Portal you can find data that the City both creates and collects. You can either download the data to use yourself, or you can navigate through one of the pages on this site to see the data visualized in a variety of ways. Open Data Syracuse is meant to give you better access to the work the City of Syracuse does each day. Data and information can be valuable for residents, researchers, and city staff. Over time, you'll see the amount of data on this site grow, and we want you to be involved with helping to determine which data is prioritized.

What is Open Data?

Open data is data that is produced and collected by the City of Syracuse, and can be used by anyone to see the work that is being done by City staff. Typically, this data is available online and can be downloaded or viewed in charts, graphs, and maps.

Why does it matter to me?

Open data gives you information about how the City operates, and is available for free, without you needing to ask for it. In Syracuse, we will publish data that is most in demand from the public, and will also work to visualize it so that people can understand it without just looking at spreadsheets.

What can I do?

Use the data! Look at information about your neighborhood. Recommend other types of data you would like to see. Tell us how you are using the data.  You can reach us at either OpenData@syrgov.net or fill out a short information form at the bottom of data.syr.gov.
