Mayor Walsh Puts Problem Property Owners on Notice

Statement by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh on Common Council approval of amendments to City of Syracuse Nuisance Abatement General Ordinance:

“Problem property owners should be on notice: Syracuse now has a tougher nuisance abatement law. With approval by the Syracuse Common Council today, we can impose higher fines on nuisance properties and take action based on more types of arrests, including firearms, fireworks and narcotics activity. The amendments also strengthen our ability to seek injunctive relief to disrupt threats to safety and quality of life and to better protect victims of crimes. We need every tool available to protect our neighborhoods. I applaud the Council on authorizing these amendments to the City of Syracuse Nuisance Abatement General Ordinance.
