Mayor Walsh Commends Common Council for Authorizing ARPA Spending

Published on May 22, 2023

“Working in coordination with the Common Council, we are deploying pandemic relief funds to make stronger neighborhoods, families and children in Syracuse for generations. Consistent with our plan for American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, the Council today authorized funding for the Creekside Landing project which will create quality housing on Syracuse’s south and southwest sides. It also approved funds to continue to operate the Syracuse Financial Empowerment Center which provides free, confidential, financial counseling to city residents. In total, the Council approved about $2.6 million in pandemic-related funding.  I’m proud of the way Syracuse is using APRA funds to help people and our city government recover from the pandemic. Details on our progress are available online at syr.gov/arpa.”
