SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The City of Syracuse Department of Parks & Recreation and design consultant, Barton & Loguidice, will hold two additional community design sessions to envision a new Minority Veterans & Service Members Memorial planned for Kirk Park. The design sessions will be on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Kirk Park Community Center, located at 300 W Borden Ave, Syracuse, NY 13205.

Residents are encouraged to attend and share their ideas with designers in small group discussions. During this session attendees will learn about project goals, constraints, and opportunities while giving input for the conceptual design of the new memorial.

“The Kirk Park Minority Veterans & Service Members Memorial will serve as an important tribute commemorating the contributions and sacrifices of our city’s minority Veterans and service members,” said Mayor Ben Walsh. “I am encouraging families to participate in the sessions and look forward to seeing how the community shapes this space to honor these men and women.”

The project is funded through $250,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds allocated by the Syracuse Common Council.
