Arrest made in deadly stabbing on Onondaga Avenue

On January 12th, 2023, at 2:52 p.m., Syracuse Police Officers responded to the Stop and Shop Market at 927 Onondaga Avenue regarding a stabbing investigation. Upon arrival, Officers observed a victim, Derval Adams, 43. had been involved in an altercation and was suffering serious injuries. Initial observations revealed that he had been stabbed numerous times. Adams was treated at the scene before being transported to Upstate Hospital. Despite all resuscitative efforts, Adams ultimately succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Patrol Officers responded immediately to the scene, and CID Detectives commenced an investigation. During the ensuing investigation, numerous people were interviewed, and an extensive neighborhood canvass was conducted. A person matching the description of the suspect was located by patrol officers near the scene a short time after the stabbing. This person was subsequently identified as Lamar Green, 35. After further investigation, Green was identified as the suspect in this incident and transported to CID.

In regard to this investigation, Lamar Green was charged with the following crimes: One count of Murder in the Second Degree and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree.
