Buy Property from the City

There are 2 basic types of property you can buy through the City.

  • City-owned properties. The city of Syracuse owns many properties throughout the city — mostly vacant lots.
  • Tax delinquent properties. The City’s partner — the Greater Syracuse Land Bank — has possession of seized properties. They were taken from the old owners because they didn’t pay taxes.

To find available properties, search on the Land Bank’s website.

To get a list of tax delinquent properties in Syracuse, you need to make a Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) request. Fill out a FOIL request.
