The City Clerk publishes the proceedings of the Common Council, processes all request of Common Council legislation from City department heads and Councilors, and prepares agenda for Council meetings. The Clerk records and certifies all City ordinances, resolutions, and local laws enacted by the Council. The City Clerk presides over public auctions of City property. The Clerk is also responsible for receiving written notices for defects in the right-of-way and for issuing and recording marriage license and fishing, hunting and dog licenses.
NOTICE OF VACANCY
The Syracuse City Clerk is announcing a Councilor-at-Large vacancy effective January 1, 2026.
All applicants must be residents of the City of Syracuse as of January 1, 2025 and remain a City resident for the entirety of his or her term.
If selected, the appointee will serve on the Syracuse Common Council for a term ending December 31, 2026 and will be subject to standing for election on November 3, 2026.
