The Department of Neighborhood and Business Development and community partners invite you to participate in Proud Places Butternut Community Block Party. The event will feature a fresh food giveaway, a summer reading kick-off, and access to community resources. Music, youth activities, and food is included!

Fresh Food Giveaway

In collaboration with local farmers from the Central New York Regional Market.

Summer Reading Kick-off

Youth sign-ups all day at the Library Front Desk and special guest Dan the Snake Man at 6 p.m.

Community Resources

Speak to community agencies about lead, housing, financial empowerment, safety and more!

The following agencies will have tables at the event: ACR Health; Assumption Church; Local Boy Scout Troop from Boy Scout of Americas; Catholic Charities; City of Syracuse Department of Fire; Division of Code Enforcement, Office of Lead Hazard Reduction, and Syracuse Financial Empowerment Center; Central New York Fair Housing; Danforth-Pond-Butternut Taskforce; Early Childhood Alliance; Greater Syracuse Land Bank; Home HeadQuarters; Hopeprint; Interfaith Works; New York State Department of Social Services; Northeast Hawley Development Association; Northside Learning Center; Onondaga County Health Department and Adult and Long Term Care Services; PEACE Inc.; Refugee and Immigrant Self-Empowerment (RISE); Syracuse Northeast Community Center; Vineyard Church.

Road Closure: South Alvord Street from Ash to Butternut Streets will be closed for the event. 

Parking: Free parking is available at the Franklin Elementary School parking lot. The lot will be accessible from the Park Street entrance.

Rain Date: If cancelled due to weather, the event will take place on Friday, June 28 from 3 to 7 p.m. at White Branch Library.
