Mayor Walsh Announces Construction Between Lincoln Park and Henninger

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced a sidewalk reconstruction project beginning the week of August 8 on Teall Avenue and Robinson Street between Lincoln Park and Henninger High School. The completion of this project will build a safer, more accessible and more equitable transportation network for students and local residents.

Sidewalks will be reconstructed on both sides of Teall Avenue from Herbst Avenue to Craton Street, and on both sides of Robinson Street from Sherwood Avenue to Teall Avenue. Crews will reconstruct sidewalks on one side of the road at a time to leave the other side open for pedestrians.

New sidewalks will be constructed on the north side of Robinson Avenue between Sunstruck and Hixon Avenue, across from Henninger High School.

The project is a collaboration between the Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks and Recreation. DPW crews work with the City Arborist to evaluate existing trees and sidewalks to determine assets that can be retained and those which need to be removed. Crews accommodate existing trees, remove any trees that conflict with utilities and provide spaces for new trees where possible, with the goal of preserving and expanding the City’s tree canopy.

Work is expected to take place from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p.m. each day. The project is expected to be completed in three weeks. Actual project start dates and timeframes are contingent on favorable weather.
