Mayor Walsh Announces Road Reconstruction in Downtown Syracuse

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced road reconstruction projects starting next week on West Jefferson Street and North Franklin Street in Downtown.

Crews will mill (remove the top layer of existing pavement) West Jefferson Street on the 200 block around the MoST to South Clinton Street on Tuesday, August 30. Crews will repave the road on Thursday, September 1. The street will remain open to vehicular traffic during roadwork, however parking lanes will be closed during the project. Work is expected to take place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Crews will mill North Franklin Street from West Willow Street to West Fayette Street on Wednesday, August 31. Crews will repave the road on Friday, September 2. The street will remain open to vehicular traffic during roadwork. Work is expected to take place from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day.

Actual project start dates and timeframes are contingent on favorable weather.
