The City of Syracuse Engineering Department announced it will open public input today on the East Colvin Street Paving Project. The project consists of significant roadwork, sidewalk construction and accessibility upgrades. Public input will begin with a public meeting, June 15th at 5:00 p.m. at The Atrium, City Hall Commons, 201 E. Washington Street, Syracuse, NY 13202, to allow residents to learn about improvements planned on the Southeast Side of Syracuse.
The project objectives are to rehabilitate and maintain the existing pavement surface of East Colvin Street between Comstock Avenue and the city line (near Nottingham Road) by milling and paving. It will provide longer service life to the pavement structure, re-stripe and replace pavement markings giving motorists and pedestrians visible and clear indications of those features. The project will also inventory and rehabilitate where necessary the existing pedestrian facilities including but not limited to sidewalks, curb ramps, curb, crosswalks and pedestrian signals.
Residents can learn more and leave public comments for City Engineers online using the project page at syr.gov. Public comments will be accepted until June 27. Construction work is not scheduled to begin until March 2025.
