Michael Lehmann Appointment Deputy Commissioner of Asset Management

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the appointment of Michael Lehmann to Deputy Commissioner of Asset Management and Valuation. In this role, Lehmann will oversee the City’s real estate assets, with particular attention to sustainable revenue growth to further the City’s neighborhood and economic development goals.

Lehmann will be responsible for analyzing use and management of City assets, and he will develop strategies and operations to ensure best market practices are adapted to City-owned property. In addition, Lehmann will support the Assessment Department to ensure current trends and practices related to the use of technology in real estate assessment and valuation are employed in accordance with New York’s Real Property Tax Law.

Prior to joining the City of Syracuse, Lehmann worked as a Commercial Appraisal Analyst at CNY Pomeroy Appraisers and as a Client Advocate and Advisor at BellCornerstone. In these roles, Lehmann researched, compiled and analyzed data for commercial real estate valuation, provided broker price opinions, negotiated commercial and corporate leases, conducted financial analyses and negotiated sales and lease-back agreements.

Lehmann received his Juris Doctor from the College of Law at Syracuse University, his Master of Business Administration from the Townsend School of Business at Dowling College and his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York Institute of Technology. He is licensed in New York State as a Notary Public and Associate Real Estate Broker, and he serves as president of the Syracuse Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, an Irish-American organization that engages in charitable and community service work and fosters and promotes Irish culture.
