City Parks Hosts Second Mile Marketplace on the Creekwalk Sept. 23

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The City of Syracuse Department of Parks and Recreation will host the second annual Mile Marketplace on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. along the Creekwalk, beginning at the Hunt Ave trailhead. 

The outdoor market highlights the newest section of the Onondaga Creekwalk as it passes through Kirk Park on the city’s South Side and will feature vendor booths representing local artisans, crafters, food trucks, small business, and non-profit agencies. The event will also promote wellness with activities throughout the day.   

The department will be hosting a free Yard Tree Giveaway for property owners in the city of Syracuse. City of Syracuse property owners are eligible to receive up to two trees per address to plant in their yards. Ten different tree species are available to choose from. This year’s event will include a showcase of local youth DJs, coordinated by DJ Bella J of On the One DJ Center. The showcase will run throughout the event.

Schedule of events: 

  • 10 to 10:30 a.m.: Yoga
  • 10:30 to 11 a.m.: Tree pruning demo with Onondaga Earth Corps
  • 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Tree ID walk with Forestry team
  • 12 to 12:30 p.m.: Zumba
  • 12:30 to 1 p.m.: Tree pruning demo with Onondaga Earth Corps
  • 1 to 2 p.m.: Tree ID walk with Forestry team
  • 2 to 2:30 p.m.:  Yoga
  • 2:30 to 3 p.m.:  Zumba

On-street parking is available along Hunt Avenue and Onondaga Creek Parkway. Accessible parking is available in the Hunt Avenue trailhead parking lot.
