Arrest made in Shots Fired Investigation on Pond Street

On Monday, October 9th, 2023, at around 7:48 P.M., Officers responded to the 100 block of Pond Street for a suspicious person with a weapon complaint. Upon arrival, Officers investigated the incident, and, while on scene, observed a disturbance take place near the intersection of Pond Street and Lilac Street.

Officers approached the disturbance and observed a male discharge a firearm into the air. After watching this, the Officers gave chase to the suspect, who fled into a residence in the 700 block of North Alvord Street. A perimeter was established, and our SWAT team was called to the scene.

After some time, the residence was cleared, and interviews were conducted. As a result of the ongoing investigation, a suspect was identified as Andrew Richway, 19, of Syracuse. Richway is accused of firing his gun off during the disturbance complaint that the Officers were initially investigating. Richway was arrested and booked for Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Criminal Use of a Firearm.
