Stabbing with Injuries on South Salina Street

On Friday, December 22nd, 2023, at around 9:29 P.M., Officers responded to the 4400 block of S. Salina Street for a stabbing call. Upon arrival, Officers located a 21-year-old male stabbed in the midsection and a 20-year-old female who was punched in the face. The male was transported to Upstate Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and the female was treated on the scene.
 
The investigation revealed a suspect, Joseph Johnson, 48, of Syracuse, who was still on the scene. Johnson was located in an apartment building in the same block as the incident location and taken into custody. Johnson is accused of stabbing the male victim and punching the female victim during an altercation inside the building.
 
Johnson was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Assault in the Third Degree.
