Deadly Collision at Intersection of N. Salina St. and Catawba St.

On Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at around 2:21 A.M., Officers responded to N. Salina Street and Catawba Street for a motor vehicle collision. 
Upon arrival, Officers located two vehicles that had collided at the intersection.
 
The investigation revealed the following:  A vehicle driven by a 47-year-old male with a 59-year-old female passenger was traveling south on N. Salina Street when they approached the intersection with Catawba Street. At the same time, a vehicle driven by Takisha Hordge, 25, was traveling east on Catawba Street when she ran a red light and struck the previously mentioned vehicle.  As a result, a serious collision occurred, and all drivers were taken to area hospitals with injuries. 
 
The 59-year-old female passenger, identified as Gloria Hill, was later pronounced deceased from injuries stemming from this incident. The other parties are expected to survive. 
 
The investigation revealed that Hordge was under the influence and at fault for this collision. Hordge was arrested and charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Vehicular Manslaughter in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, DWI, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree, Reckless Driving, and numerous other Vehicle & Traffic law violations.
 
SPD Traffic Section continues to investigate. Hordge remains at Upstate Hospital under watch and is later to be lodged at the Justice Center upon discharge.
