The City of Syracuse now uses lidded trash carts for sanitation. The City rolled out new trash and recycling carts to all households. With the program fully implemented, here is where residents can get questions answered about the new cart program. The new pickup system will improve service for residents, reduce trash and litter, and lower injuries to our sanitation workers.

Getting Started with Carts
Plan to place your cart(s) at the curb on your regular weekly/bi-weekly collection day. Place your cart(s) at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. before your collection date and remove it from the street by 7 p.m. on your collection date. Here are the timeframes:
