Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Division of Equity Compliance & Social Impact, an employee in this class is responsible for managing vendor engagement and outreach initiatives to advance equity and inclusion in municipal procurement. This position leads strategic projects to increase participation of Minority-Owned, Woman-Owned, and Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE/SDVOB), designs and implements outreach programs, and serves as a liaison between the City and external stakeholders. Work involves planning, coordination, and evaluation of programs aligned with institutional procurement and equity objectives. Does related work as required.

This is a temporary position that is grant-funded under the Bloomberg Philanthropies grant supporting procurement transformation and equity initiatives.

Typical Work Activities

  • Develop and manage vendor engagement initiatives, including project scoping, resource planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation
  • Create detailed implementation plans and coordinate staff and resources to ensure timely and effective delivery of program goals
  • Craft and deliver internal and external communications that promote vendor participation and highlight success stories
  • Track and report on MWBE and SDVOB participation metrics, outreach efforts, and program outcomes
  • Design and implement outreach strategies to connect with diverse and underrepresented businesses
  • Serve as a liaison between the City and external vendors, community organizations, and advocacy groups
  • Organize workshops, training sessions, and networking events to support vendor readiness and participation
  • Provide direct assistance to vendors and monitor engagement trends
  • Collect and analyze data on vendor participation rates, feedback, and outreach effectiveness
  • Prepare reports and dashboards to track progress toward equity goals and inform decision making
  • Research best practices for inclusive procurement and adapt strategies to local context
  • Represent the Division of Equity Compliance & Social Impact and the Mayor’s Office at meetings, conferences, and community events
  • Document outreach activities, program progress, and performance improvements
  • Perform additional duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in community outreach and/or engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in high education, government, or nonprofit sectors
  • Familiarity with supplier diversity programs and inclusive procurement practices
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Strong communication, organizational, and relationship building skills
