Civil Service Jobs

Civil servants are employees who work for the government at the local, state and federal levels to provide a service for the public. City government employs people in numerous careers with or without advanced degrees. Often, positions in city government are civil service jobs meaning they may require taking an exam. Exams vary by the position you apply for. Exams can be free or have an application fee of up to $20.

If you are interested in taking a civil service exam, contact the Onondaga County Department of Personnel. They are responsible for administering Civil Service exams on behalf of the City of Syracuse. They can be reached at 315-435-3537 or visit employment.ongov.net.
