EnergySmart CNY is a team of trusted, knowledgeable, community-based organizations in Central New York and is one of twelve Regional Clean Energy Hubs funded by NYSERDA across New York State. EnergySmartCNY and their partners have extensive experience in clean energy and energy efficiency. They help you find the energy solutions that are right for you by:
  • Helping you through the process of assessing your home, apartment, or building for energy efficiency
  • Connecting you to qualified contractors and providers
  • Accessing financial incentives

How to Get Started

Use the sections below to start exploring a variety of efficient and clean energy solutions for your home or business.  

Community Solar

Syracuse Community Solar offers residents and businesses the opportunity to benefit from solar energy without installing panels on their property. The program connects you to an official Community Solar provider, Solar Simplified, to subscribe to local solar farms and receive monthly savings on utility bills. All participants qualify for a 10% discount on electricity costs, whereas income-qualified households may qualify for a 20% discount. Participation is free, with no additional fees or long-term contracts.

Solar Installation

Solar technologies convert sunlight into electricity or heat. This is most commonly done by using photovoltaic (PV) panels (aka solar panels). The generated electricity can either be used right away or stored in batteries or other forms of energy storage. Installing solar panels can dramatically lower your electricity bills, but it can also offer security and stability during grid emergencies when paired with battery back-up. EnergySmartCNY partners with two trusted local solar companies, Halco Home Solutions and Nickels Energy Solutions, to help serve Syracuse residents and businesses. These companies are qualified solar contractors who have been pre-approved by NYSERDA.

Energy Efficiency for your Home or Business

Insulation and air sealing are crucial steps to improving energy efficiency, home comfort, and lowering the costs of heating and cooling. Air leaks lead to wasted energy and increased utility bills. Improvements can also help reduce respiratory problems and prevent pollen, dust, and insects from entering your home or business. EnergySmartCNY partners with trusted local contractors to help Syracuse residents and businesses find energy efficiency solutions. These companies are qualified contractors who have been pre-approved by NYSERDA. There are incentives for all income levels for insulation and air sealing, new energy systems, and more.
