The Syracuse Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) provides free, one-on-one professional financial counseling to all City of Syracuse residents.

A program of the City of Syracuse in partnership with United Way of Central New York, the Syracuse FEC helps individuals and families build financial stability and achieve their goals. Whether you're working to reduce debt, improve your credit, create a budget, save for the future, prepare to purchase a home, or navigate an unexpected financial challenge, our certified financial counselors provide personalized, confidential support at no cost.

New: Legacy Planning

The Syracuse Financial Empowerment Center now offers Legacy Planning support to help residents prepare for the future.

While we do not provide legal advice or draft legal documents, our counselors can:

  • Review insurance policies and property titles
  • Help you update beneficiaries on financial accounts
  • Provide education on wills, powers of attorney, trusts, and other legacy planning topics

  • Connect you with trusted legal resources to help create estate planning documents when needed
