On Monday, December 18th, 2023, at around 4:39 A.M., Officers responded to I-690 East between Milder Avenue and Thompson Road for a single-car motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, Officers found a vehicle flipped on its roof with a sole occupant/driver inside. The driver was transported to Upstate in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a ditch. As a result of the crash, the car flipped on its roof in several feet of water. EMS crews responded, extracted the driver, and transported him to Upstate Hospital.
The driver is identified as 44-year-old Udayabhanu Anjanappilly of Cohoes, N.Y. The investigation is ongoing.
