Statement by Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh on Governor Hochul’s 2024 State of the State Address:

“I thank Governor Hochul for continuing to invest in Syracuse and Central New York. The Governor made major commitments today to improving public safety, mental health, housing and consumer protection. Her State of the State agenda also includes making Syracuse home to the flagship site of the ON-RAMP workforce initiative. Having an advanced manufacturing and construction workforce development hub in Syracuse is a concentrated effort to ensure underrepresented populations are engaged in the rapidly growing career opportunities in our region. It is more evidence of Syracuse’s rise in the New Economy. With this investment, we will expand the proven Syracuse Surge and Syracuse Build workforce programs that we pioneered in Syracuse over the past five years. I’m also deeply grateful to the Governor for her infusion of funding to address urban poverty which has continued to disproportionately impact children and families in Syracuse and other Upstate cities.”
