Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh and Onondaga County Executive J. Ryan McMahon, II, directed flags on all city and county buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of fallen Syracuse Police Officer Michael Jensen and Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Hoosock. Flags should remain at half-staff until the law enforcement officers’ interments.

“We grieve for the families of Officer Jensen and Lt. Hoosock,” said Mayor Walsh. “We also stand with the members of the Syracuse Police Department, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department and all those who work in law enforcement.”

“Our community continues to grieve the horrific and tragic loss of Lt. Hoosock and Officer Jensen. These heroes lost their lives doing what they loved - serving and protecting our community,” McMahon said. “Our condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of Lt. Hoosock and Officer Jensen. Onondaga County will always stand proudly with all members of law enforcement and their families.”

Jensen and Hoosock were shot and killed Sunday evening while investigating a car chase. Arrangements for the two community heroes are currently being prepared.
