Syracuse Fire Responded to the 400 Block of Grant Boulevard
Published on September 16, 2022
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – On September 16, 2022 at 12:34 p.m., Syracuse firefighters were alerted by the 911 Center to a possible fire in the 400 block of Grant Boulevard. Firefighters from Station 9 (Shuart Ave) arrived in two minutes to the two-story duplex residence and saw a side of the structure on fire. Firefighters stretched handlines into position and extinguished the fire on the exterior of the building. Simultaneously, other firefighters searched the building for occupants
and for fire spread into hidden voids in the structure. The occupant of the affected unit was in the house and was alerted then evacuated by firefighters. The fire was successfully prevented from spreading; no fire was found inside the building. Firefighters remained on scene performing overhaul and pulling siding near the fire damage to ensure no hidden smoldering areas.
There were no injuries reported and no persons displaced. The fire is under investigation by Syracuse Fire Investigators. We thank our partners at the 911 Center, Syracuse Police, and AMR.
With the rapid speed of fire growth and spread, fast Syracuse Fire response times continue to serve the City’s citizens well by preventing property damage by fire and potentially saving lives and preventing injury.
