CREWS QUICKLY EXTINGUISH BURDICK AVE FIRE

Syracuse, NY- On Monday, July 7, 2025, at 8:48 a.m., Syracuse Firefighters were alerted by the Onondaga County 911 Center to a reported fire at 124-126 Burdick Ave. Crews from Station 2 arrived at the scene in 3 minutes and found a 2 ½ story home with smoke coming from the 2nd floor and attic.  Firefighters began stretching lines into the house as other teams began searching for victims.  A Signal “99” was transmitted, indicating a working fire.

Crews were informed that everyone had made it out of the house, but continued to search to ensure there were no victims. Teams worked on extinguishing the fire and searching the entire structure. The fire was under control in 10 minutes and declared out after 30 minutes. No victims were found. Crews remained on scene for 2 hours, cleaning up and assisting investigators.

One person was home at the time of the fire and made it out safely. The second-floor apartment and attic of the 2-family house suffered fire damage. Other parts of the building sustained minor smoke and water damage. Three occupants were displaced by the fire and were assisted by The Red Cross. According to Syracuse Fire Investigators, the fire originated in the ceiling between the 2nd floor and attic, caused by an undetermined electrical malfunction. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters during the incident.

Syracuse Police, American Medical Response, National Grid and The Red Cross also responded to the scene. We thank our partners at the 911 Center, SPD, AMR, National Grid and The Red Cross.
