Lipe Art Park

Project Location: Lipe Art Park, 1003 West Fayette Street, 13204

Project scope: Lipe Art Park, Syracuse’s first official art park, is undergoing a revitalization effort to restore its pathways, enhance accessibility, and reinforce its role as a cultural landmark. Once an abandoned rail yard, the park has a rich history tied to innovation and social justice, notably serving as the site of an 1852 anti-slavery rally where Frederick Douglass spoke. This project aims to improve the park’s infrastructure while preserving its place in Syracuse's historic landscape. To further promote public art, five precast concrete T-Panels, each measuring 4 feet wide by 10 feet tall, will be installed to serve as rotating mural surfaces. Additionally, a new flagpole will be erected, symbolizing the community’s dedication to supporting artists and creative expression within the neighborhood.
