Code Enforcement serves as the first line of defense for maintaining safe and healthy housing. Code Enforcement addresses deteriorating homes, vacant, and blighted properties, and general neighborhood decline. Code Enforcement ensures that properties meet minimum requirements for property maintenance and safe construction.
The City of Syracuse has a proactive Code Enforcement management model. This model organizes its critical resources & activities into a dynamic and adaptive system. The model is data driven with goals, policies, and procedures used to protect the public’s health, safety, and welfare.
The Division protects against health and safety violations in all buildings throughout the City. It preserves the City's housing stock and enhances neighborhood quality of life by enforcing state and local codes to respond to complaints and mandated periodic inspections.
