Mayor Walsh announced the City of Syracuse will host four open houses to share information about the Vision Zero Initiative, a strategy to eliminate all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, while increasing safety and equitable mobility for all. At the open houses, attendees will view and discuss the City’s goals for the initiative and the Vision Zero Action Plan.

The City of Syracuse has several initiatives aligned with the Vision Zero strategy underway, including the Municipal Sidewalk Program, supplemental sidewalk snow removal, automated enforcement in school zones, speed cushions, bicycle infrastructure and signal updates.

The next milestone in becoming a Vision Zero city is developing the Vision Zero Action Plan, which will focus on outreach, data analysis, and infrastructure review. This plan will guide proactive safety decisions and investments for the City.

More information on the Vision Zero Initiative can be found at syr.gov/vision-zero.
