Syracuse Planning Commission to Host Public Hearing on ReZone Syracuse

Published on March 24, 2023

The City of Syracuse Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on ReZone Syracuse on Tuesday, Mar. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Syracuse Common Council Chambers in Syracuse City Hall, 233 E. Washington Street. ReZone Syracuse is the first comprehensive update of Syracuse’s zoning ordinance and map in more than 55 years.

The revised ordinance addresses key zoning and land use priorities, including the City’s first affordable housing requirements, new and improved citywide design standards, and a streamlined development review process. More information about ReZone Syracuse, including the revised ordinance, is available at https://www.syr.gov/Initiatives/Planning/ReZone-Syracuse.

The Planning Commission is accepting testimony regarding ReZone Syracuse as part of its review of the revised ordinance. Members of the public wishing to comment in person during the Public Hearing will be limited to three minutes. Written comments may be submitted at the Public Hearing, mailed, or emailed to the Office of Zoning Administration at 201 East Washington Street, Room 500, Syracuse, NY 13202, or zoning@syr.gov. Written comments will be accepted up until the Public Hearing is closed.

Following Planning Commission action, which is expected this spring, the Syracuse Common Council will conduct the final review of ReZone Syracuse.
