Mayor Walsh Announces Bravest vs Finest Basketball Game

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the return of the Bravest vs. Finest basketball game bringing together members of the Syracuse Fire Department and Syracuse Police Department in a friendly, yet competitive basketball matchup in support of United Way of Central New York.

“The Bravest vs. Finest game is more than just a basketball game — it’s a testament to the dedication of our public safety personnel and their commitment to the community,” said Mayor Ben Walsh. “We’re proud that this longtime game can become a way to support United Way of Central New York and the work they do every day to strengthen and uplift our neighborhoods.”

United Way of Central New York is a trusted, community-focused nonprofit organization dedicated to improving lives and strengthening communities in the region. By funding over 70 local programs and initiatives annually, United Way of Central New York plays a vital role in creating pathways to opportunity and equity for individuals and families across Onondaga County.

Promising a fun-filled and family-friendly evening that celebrates unity, community spirit, and public service. All proceeds from the event will help to fund programs and services that uplift and support individuals and families throughout the Central New York region.

The partnership with United Way and the Syracuse City School District also opens the game to the public and welcomes a larger audience.

“We’re excited to host the Bravest vs. Finest basketball game in our Corcoran Gymnasium. We hope the community will join us to cheer on our first responders while contributing to a great cause that uplifts our city,” said Anthony Davis, Superintendent of Syracuse City School District.

The game will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at Corcoran Gymnasium, located at 919 Glenwood Ave, Syracuse, NY 13207. Doors open at 5:30 PM, with tip-off scheduled for 6:30 PM. Tickets are $10 per person, and children 5 and under can attend for free.

On-site parking will be available in the back lot of Corcoran High School, near the tennis courts off Reinman Road. Additional public parking will be available in a nearby overflow lot. Signs will be posted to help guide attendees. It’s recommended to arrive early to ensure timely entry.
