Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the addition of residential and commercial construction permits to the City’s Online Application Portal, making it more convenient for residents and businesses to do work in Syracuse. The move to digital applications is part of the Central Permit Office’s ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline application intake, review and issuance for permits and licenses.
“The migration of construction permit applications to our online portal highlights the City’s commitment to deliver high-quality customer experiences through proactive and efficient service,” said Mayor Walsh. “Going digital has allowed us to make improvements in our process that residents and businesses need. It enhances efficiency by reducing the number of steps in the permitting process, increases transparency, and improves the user experience for all constituents.”
The online application portal streamlines review approvals, while offering convenient 24-hour electronic access. Applicants can track their permit status online, upload plan documents, send questions to City staff, and conveniently pay fees with a credit or debit card.
The following residential and commercial construction permit applications required by the City of Syracuse are now on the Online Application Portal:
Residential Construction Permits: addition or conversion; change of occupancy; deck, porch, gazebo, and pergola; driveway; fence; fenestration i.e. windows and doors; interior remodel and renovation; miscellaneous projects i.e. chimney and skylight; new build; pool or hot tub; ramp; retaining wall; shed, carport, and garage; sheetrock; and temporary structure.
Commercial Construction Permits: addition; change of occupancy; interior demolition; new construction; remodel and renovation; signs; and site work.
If applicants have any questions or need assistance with their application, please contact the Central Permit Office at 315-448-8600 or by email at camino@syr.gov.
