City of Syracuse to Close Fayette Street Parking Garage Downtown

Published on November 06, 2025

The City of Syracuse announced the Fayette Street Parking Garage at 300 E. Fayette Street in downtown Syracuse will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 6 due to structural safety concerns. Users will not be able to re-enter the city-owned garage after exiting today. Alternate parking is being made available for monthly parkers at the City’s Washington Street Parking Garage at 340 W. Washington Street.

The Fayette Street garage closure is based on an inspection by engineers working for the City received on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The inspection found significant signs of deterioration at the 41-year-old structure.

Deputy Commissioner of Code Enforcement and Zoning Administration Jake Dishaw ordered the closure after inspecting the site Thursday. The facility will remain closed as the City determines the appropriate course of action to address conditions at the garage.

“We understand the inconvenience this may cause and are making alternative parking solutions available to users,” Dishaw said. “Safety remains our top priority, and we appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as we take the necessary steps to address these concerns.”
