Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the launch of SYRNotify, a modernized notification system to inform property owners, tenants, and property managers about health and sanitation violations, including illegal setouts and improper trash cart placements. The new program is the City’s latest step in modernizing government systems, enhancing communication, and helping residents stay compliant with local regulations.
SYRNotify delivers near real-time email notifications, ensuring that individuals are alerted as soon as violations are issued. The system supplements traditional mail and posted notices, allowing residents and property managers to respond promptly—often within the 24-hour cleanup window before crews return—reducing fines, repeated violations, and overall enhancing neighborhood quality- of-life.
“This new notification system is about transparency, accountability, and efficiency. By keeping residents informed in near real time, we are making it easier for everyone to stay in compliance,” said Mayor Walsh. “It is another step toward building a more connected, responsive and user-friendly Syracuse.” SYRNotify supports property owners and tenants in maintaining cleaner, safer streets while reducing the burden of unexpected fines. Notifications include violation details and steps for resolving the violation. Residents, tenants, and property managers can sign up for SYRNotify by visiting syr.gov/SYRNotify.
