City of Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh announced the extension of the City’s Parking Amnesty Program until Friday, January 2, 2026. The program waives late fees on all outstanding parking tickets. Drivers with outstanding tickets now have an extra month to take advantage of the Amnesty Month discount and clear tickets at the reduced cost of each ticket’s original fine and New York State surcharge.
“We are extending our Parking Amnesty program to give drivers more time to take advantage of the discount as we head into the holiday season,” said Mayor Walsh. “We want to make this opportunity as accessible and convenient as possible for all drivers, so there are multiple ways to participate. I highly encourage anyone who parks in the City of Syracuse to use our online self-service portal to look up and clear any outstanding tickets they may have before the end of the year.”
As of November 23, 2025, approximately 1,100 parking tickets have been cleared with the Amnesty Month discount. Approximately $50,000 in original fines and NYS surcharges have been paid and approximately $41,000 in late fees have been waived for the cleared tickets.
How to Use the Self-Service Portal to Clear Tickets During Amnesty Month
To clear tickets directly online during Amnesty Month, drivers should:
Visit the self-service portal at goto.syr.gov/parkingticket-lookup
Use their First and Last Name, and license plate number to look up outstanding tickets
Ensure that each ticket has the correct license plate number
View the discounted Amnesty Month balance owed for each ticket in the “Balance Due” column
Select each ticket to be cleared
Click “Add Selected Invoices”, then “Proceed to Payment”
Cleared tickets will still populate in the self-service portal. If the amount owed in the “Balance Due” column is $0.00, the ticket has been cleared, and no action needs to be taken.
Drivers who are uncertain if tickets are theirs (i.e. search results populate tickets under someone of the same name) should email the Parking Amnesty email address at ParkingAmnesty@syr.gov or call the Parking Amnesty phone number at (315) 448-8670 for clarification.
Drivers can also clear their tickets in-person at the City Payment Center, via the City Payment Center drop box, or by mail.
How Parking Amnesty Works
When a parking ticket is not paid on time – within 21 days of the ticket being issued – it accrues late fees. Late fee amounts depend on the type of parking violation and time elapsed since first notice being issued. During Amnesty Month, all accrued late fees will be waived, allowing drivers to clear outstanding tickets at a fraction of the accrued amount.
During Amnesty Month, vehicle booting will continue, but tickets can be cleared at the reduced cost of the original fine and NYS surcharge in addition to the cost of boot removal. Drivers with multiple outstanding tickets will have the accrued late fees for each ticket waived. They must still pay the original fine and surcharge amount to clear each outstanding ticket.
