The City of Syracuse will host a Reconnecting Communities Open House on Wednesday, March 4, to unveil proposed designs for the five key corridors — Colvin Street, Taylor Street, MLK Street, Adams and Harrison streets, and the proposed Linear Park planned between Roesler and Wilson parks. The project supports the City’s Vision Zero goals and complements the I-81 Viaduct Project.
The City of Syracuse invites residents to help shape the future of neighborhood connections, street safety, and public spaces. The open house will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at STEAM at Dr. King, 416 E. Raynor Ave. The event will focus on proposed designs for Adams Street and Harrison Street, the proposed Linear Park, Taylor Street, Martin Luther King Jr. Street, and Colvin Street.
City staff and project partners will present the latest concepts and lead interactive breakout sessions for each corridor. Residents can review designs, ask questions, and help shape priorities related to safety, connectivity, accessibility, and neighborhood investment. Food and refreshments will be provided.
The Reconnecting Communities initiative seeks to address historic barriers created by transportation infrastructure while strengthening neighborhood connections, improving street safety and creating more welcoming public spaces. Community participation plays a critical role in ensuring the designs reflect local needs and lived experiences.
The presentation from the open house will be made available online following the event, along with an open forum for public comments. This online option ensures residents who cannot attend in person can view the information and share feedback. Additional public engagement opportunities may occur before implementation; however, the designs presented reflect the final concepts developed by Stantec. Public input collected during the open house and through the online open forum will help inform how the City advances these designs toward implementation.
Residents are encouraged to attend, view the crafted designs, and take part in shaping the future of their neighborhoods.
