Downtown Syracuse Overnight Parking Restrictions in Effect

Seasonal odd and even parking restrictions will be in effect starting Nov. 1, in parts of Downtown Syracuse. On designated blocks, overnight on-street parking will alternate and be limited to one side. The requirements allow snowplows to effectively clear streets unobstructed by parked cars between the hours of 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Mayor Walsh Announces Launch of Redlight and Speed Cameras

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh launched the next phase of its School Zone Traffic Enforcement Program, introducing red light and speed cameras in and around schools across the city. Department of Parks to Restore Hanover Square Fountain

Mayor Walsh Announces Elmwood Park Sediment Removal Project

City of Syracuse Mayor Walsh announced that sediment removal will begin in Elmwood Park starting on June 2, 2025. The goal of the project is to return the brook to its state prior to the impact of flooding from Tropical Storm Fred in August 2021. Restoration efforts include sediment removal, repair of the channel walls, and the restoration of park turf.

Mayor Walsh Announces Opening of Kirk Park Canoe and Kayak Launch

Syracuse Mayor Walsh announced the opening of the Kirk Park Canoe and Kayak Boat Launch at a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 21. The launch is located at the end of the Creekwalk near Hunt Avenue and will serve as one of three vital access points for water enthusiasts, providing opportunities for kayaking and canoeing on Onondaga Creek.

Mayor Announces Open Houses for Vision Zero Traffic Safety Initiative

City of Syracuse to Begin Issuing Citations for Cart Violations

The City of Syracuse Department of Public Works (DPW) announced it will start issuing citations beginning Monday, Jan. 6 to property owners who do not follow setout requirements for recycling carts and resume citations for trash carts. Fines are $100 for households that fail to correct violations after receiving a citation.

City of Syracuse Announces Water Department Public Meeting on April 4

The City of Syracuse Department of Water will host a public information meeting about the Brookford Pump Station project, which includes the replacement of water mains and water services to some homes in the Meadowbrook neighborhood. The meeting will take place on Thursday, April 4 at Nottingham High School (3100 E Genesee St, Syracuse, NY 13224) from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.
