FOIL Request Self-Service Portal

The New York State Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) allows individuals to access records of governmental entities, including the City of Syracuse. Individuals seeking public records can request copies by filing a FOIL Request with the Law Department. Completed FOIL request forms should be emailed to FOIL@syrgov.net or mailed or hand-delivered to the Law Department Office at 233 East Washington Street, Suite 300, Syracuse, New York 13202.  Paper copies require a payment of $0.25 per page.

Commonly requested information about code violations and permits can be accessed without submitting a FOIL by using the FOIL Self-Serve Portal below.  The Portal provides a comprehensive database of property code violations and permits issued dating back to 2011, with a helpful mapping tool.
