Police Officer Pierson C. Near

Officer Near was shot and killed with his own service weapon while struggling with a drunk and disorderly patron in a local restaurant. During the struggle the suspects brother grabbed Officer Nears service weapon from its holster and fatally shot him. The shooter was convicted of second degree Murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison.
