Detective Harvey was shot and killed while attempting to arrest 2 burglary suspects. As he was taking 1 of the suspects into custody, the second offender turned and shot Detective Harvey in the head, killing him instantly. The suspects were chased by a group of citizens. They caught 1 of the suspects and turned him over to the police. He was convicted of the detectives murder and executed the following year.
